Despite re-entry into the Russian market in late February following last year's exclusion, just 3 percent of Bakkafrost's sales were made in Eastern Europe in the first quarter of the year, a market that used to account for 32 percent the Faroese salmon producer's revenue.

And CEO Regin Jacobsen doesn't expect sales in the market will return to previous levels.

"We sell some fish to Russia now, but we want a new balance of sales within our markets," said Jacobsen, speaking at the company's quarterly results presentation on Monday.
