Retail giant Costco has restructured the supply contract for its Kirkland Signature branded Atlantic cold smoked salmon product line, sources tell IntraFish.
Netherlands-based Foppen has been the sole supplier of the item since 2005, after Costco severed its supply deal with Lafjord, which was supplied by Marine Harvest (now Mowi). Earlier this year, according to sources, Costco decided to split the contract among three suppliers.
Foppen, according to sources, retained a third, while US-based Acme Smoked Fish and a third supplier, which sources say is Leroy-owned Dutch salmon smoker Rode Vis, split the remainder of the business.
