Icelandic equipment manufacturer Marel is noticing an increased demand from salmon processors for as much automation as possible in the face of labor shortages and the need to keep margins high to reinvest in their businesses.
"The big theme...is really automation," Marel Salmon Division Managing Director Lars Joker told IntraFish at its 18th Salmon ShowHow in Copenhagen.
Attendees are eager to see new robotic solutions, and are certain more automation is the way forward.
"We see the changes faster now than ever before," Joker said.
