Brazilian lobster exporter Prime Seafood expects sales to China to fall sharply in 2019, as the effects of the trade war with the United States impact Chinese consumer spending.

"It's a threat to our international market," said Eduardo Lobo, a partner in the business and president of ABIPESCA, the trade body representing Brazil's 16 largest processors.

"Automatically we could see a cooling in China with reduced willingness to buy and prices may fall. It's very bad."

Brazilian lobster exports are expected to reach $130 million (€114 million) in 2018, with more than half of consignments ending up on Chinese dinner plates.
