A small number of salmon escaped from SalMar’s giant “Ocean Farm 1” on Monday after the structure started to accidentally tilt, the company announced in a press release.
The crew on board discovered the seabed mooring was leaning, causing the fish to escape. SalMar said the issue was quickly corrected and measures taken to recapture the escaped fish.
Norway’s Directorate of Fisheries was informed of the matter, and SalMar said it is taking steps to prevent any similar event happening again.
