Danish aqua-feed giant BioMar expects an annual growth rate of 4.5 percent in aquaculture feed production through 2020, with a strong focus on improvements in offshore and land-based, recirculated aquaculture systems (RAS).

During his presentation at the IntraFish NYC Seafood Investor Forum, Diaz highlighted the largest challenges for growth in traditional aquaculture, including disease limitations in open salmon farming systems in Norway and Chile, and other bacterial diseases in the shrimp sector, especially in Asia.
