Ecuador's shrimp producers say they are prepared to take their case all the way to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to get access to the Brazilian market if necessary.

This comes after Brazil's supreme court ruled shrimp imports must undergo contemporaneous risk assessment analysis to avoid the potential risk of harmful diseases spreading to Brazilian farms.

Following the move, the Brazilian shrimp breeders association (ABCC) said it expects the ruling to effectively end imports of Ecuadorian shrimp.
