The Chilean government is convening an urgent meeting of salmon industry trade associations amid protests over a proposed new law that has the potential to put more 70,000 jobs at risk in the south of the country.

The Chile Salmon Council, SalmonChile and producers from the Magallanes region have been called to a meeting at which they are likely to urge the government of President Gabriel Boric, a prominent salmon industry critic, to reverse course.
