German smokehouse Krone Fisch has acquired the rights to premium smoked fish brand Gottfried Friedrichs.
Friedrichs specializes in smoked salmon -- both farmed and wild -- as well as trout, caviar and herring.
But economic factors have conspired to dampen the market for luxury goods over the course of the past year, with sales of smoked goods in Germany down 23 percent compared to 2021, according to the national Fish Information Center.
In December, Friedrichs announced that it was ending its business operations, 114 years after it was founded.
