Gustav Witzoe has spent his lifetime building up a salmon farming and seafood empire. But his son -- who holds a huge portion of the family's wealth -- won't likely be taking over, the SalMar chairman told Witzoe in an exclusive interview.

"Unlike me, my son has been clear that he does not envisage taking on an active day-to-day operational role in the company," Witzoe told IntraFish.

SalMar became the second-largest salmon farming company in the world following its deal to acquire rival Norway Royal Salmon.
