Cooke-owned Wanchese Fish Company has expanded its operating capacity thanks to assets it acquired from Blue Harvest Fisheries, a group backed by private equity firm Bregal Partners.
The Newport News City Council in September approved an agreement that involved Wanchese purchasing Blue Harvest's lease assignment at the city-owned Seafood Industrial Park in Newport News, Virginia, bringing the city a total annual revenue of around $36,000 (€33,174) from the arrangement.
The city council approved Wanchese taking over Blue Harvest's lease and entering into a four-year lease with the city that will run through September of 2026.
