Sweden’s first commercial, large-scale land-based salmon farm, Re:Ocean, has secured SEK 530 million (€47.9 million/$50.8 million) in funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The group, formerly known as Premium Svensk Lax, is planning a 58,000-square-meter farm in Saffle, Sweden that is expected to produce 10,000 metric tons of salmon per year.

The facility will encompass all the production steps under one roof, from egg to harvest, slaughtering, processing, and packaging, and will enable delivery of fresh salmon directly to Swedish supermarkets and restaurants.
