For the majority of aquaculture and fishing companies, 2022 was dominated by issues related to high energy costs, the war in Ukraine and inflation. For feed companies, this turns out to be no different.

In aquaculture feed giant's Skretting's case, the issues were partly exacerbated by having a division in Russia it decided to exit after the Ukraine invasion.

Skretting started the year by partnering with land-based salmon farmer Atlantic Sapphire on a new feed formulation containing algal oil.

Skretting's owner, Nutreco, continued to strengthen its run of investments in land-based salmon farming projects through an investment and feed supply agreement in Norwegian land-based salmon farmer Andfjord Salmon.
