Alaska seafood processors Channel Fish and Trident Seafoods have both been awarded part of a $1.6-million (€1.5-million) US Department of Agriculture (USDA) pollock contract.

The USDA on Thursday awarded Channel Fish the largest amount at $817,191 (€774,980) for 266,000 pounds of frozen, breaded pollock fish sticks. The rest of the money was awarded to Trident for 277,200 pounds of frozen bulk Alaska pollock.

For Fiscal Year 2022--which ended Sept. 30.---the USDA purchased nearly $58 million (€55 million) worth of Alaska pollock, the third highest amount in the past 11 years.
