One of New Zealand's largest fishing companies, Sanford, is busy separating its farmed salmon pens into two sites the day IntraFish speaks to CEO Peter Reidie.

The re-organization comes as part of a plan to de-risk its salmon production, and comes fast on the back of investment in a second feed barge.

It raises questions about the impacts of warming water temperatures for the producer but also its ramped up investments in one of its smallest segments of production.

"Salmon farming has been elevated in our priorities," Reidie tells IntraFish.
