Family-owned Norwegian salmon farmer Masoval saw its operational earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) fall 49 percent to NOK 62 million (€6 million/$6.2 million) in the third quarter as it battled diseases and harvested less salmon.
Group turnover amounted to NOK 378 million (€36.5 million/$38 million) in the quarter, down 22 percent compared with the same period last year, as harvest volumes fell by a third to 4,863 metric tons.
Challenging biological conditions hampered the group in the quarter, it said, specifically in relation to high levels of sea lice, a prevalence of pancreatic disease (PD), and infectious salmon anemia (ISA) outbreaks.
