Work to build Europe's largest aquaponic salmon farm in France is delayed until 2024 because the project is still trying to secure permission from local authorities and communities.

The site was originally expected to open this year.

"We hope to start the work in 2024; we don't have the authorization right now," Aquaponic Management Project Group (AMP) founder Pascal Goumain told IntraFish.

AMP, with annual sales of €9 million ($8.9 million), unveiled the venture in conjunction with agricultural cooperative Scael in 2019.
