On Wednesday, Chinese customs authorities suspended shipments from Ecuadorian shrimp exporters Frigopesca and Camar-Expo after they were found in breach of the country's COVID-19 protocols following a remote video audit.

Beginning in June of 2020, Beijing authorities began inspecting all seafood, meat and vegetable produce in markets and food halls after the discovery of COVID-19 on the chopping board of a seller of imported salmon.
