Russia’s crab harvesters are shifting supplies to Asia following the closure of US and European markets, but the pivot has been marred by challenging logistics and collapsing prices as the higher volumes flood into the region.

According to the Russian Association of the Far Eastern Crab Catchers, as of the end of September, Russia’s total crab exports to China reached 13,500 metric tons, up from 11,500 metric tons supplied to the country last year.

Korea imported around 12,000 metric tons of the Russian crab through July compared with 7,660 metric tons imported for the whole last year.
