For all of the effort this industry has sunk into seafood sustainability initiatives since the dawn of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) 25 years ago, I was a bit surprised to see a large number of consumers surveyed still feel seafood is not a sustainable resource at the moment.

In a survey of 12,000 consumers across 12 countries, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) found that more than half of those surveyed do not perceive seafood to be sustainable.

In other words, more than one out of every two shoppers feel the seafood they might purchases is not caught or raised sustainably.
