Increasing numbers of consumers across the globe are gravitating towards private label products as inflationary pressures bite into household budgets.

In Europe, private label sales are soaring at the expense of national brands, according to Koen de Jong, managing partner at the International Private Label Consult (IPLC).

Netherlands-based de Jong heads a group of private label manufacturers, which includes a number of seafood processors that supply consumer products as well as ingredients for fresh meals.

"They say they are doing good business because people trust the quality of private label," Koen de Jong told IntraFish.
