When talking about cutting emissions in the seafood industry, the vast majority of industry experts point to the importance of improving the environmental credentials of the feed sector.

“This is fair, and we take that onboard,” May-Helen Holme, innovation director for salmon at feed giant Skretting, said during the North Atlantic Seafood Forum in Bergen last week.

About a third of all emissions globally come from the food industry, and feed makes up the vast majority of a fish farmer’s carbon emissions.
