Belgium-based Pittman Seafoods main concern about the current price inflation is that consumers will be discouraged from buying fish at the supermarket, undoing the positive trends that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the IntraFish Seafood Leadership Luncheon in Barcelona, Yoke Vandepitte, CEO of Pittman Seafoods said ultimately “it will be the consumer who decides.”

While Pittman mainly deals in the frozen segment, today’s spot prices for fresh salmon are “incredible,” said Vandepitte.
