Much of the effort of plant-based seafood manufacturers to this point has been directed at moving products through retail channels.

But at a time of weakening retail sales of these seafood alternatives and the opening up of restaurants following COVID, companies have been stepping up their efforts to get plant-based seafood on restaurant menus around the world.

"I think plant-based seafood opportunities in foodservice is a sleeping giant," Monica Talbert, co-founder and CEO of the US-based The Plant Based Seafood Company, told IntraFish.
