Seafood companies locked into retail contracts are struggling to pass on soaring transport and raw material costs.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, seafood firms have been forced to rethink their distribution strategies because of sky-high shipping costs and other logistics challenges.

"No doubt it's a very hard job for us at the moment, which our sales teams are working extremely hard on," Glenn Kleppe, head of procurement and logistics at tilapia producer Regal Springs, said during IntraFish's first-ever digital event on shipping and logistics.
