It's going to be a better year for premium pollock fillet production, with fishing conditions improving and fish size larger than last year.

One executive with a pollock catcher-processor told IntraFish the fishing is somewhat easier this year, with vessels not having to travel as far north as has been the case in previous years. Fewer production disruptions related to COVID outbreaks are also having a positive impact.

In addition, vessels are seeing fish as large as 700-800 gram, one executive with a major processing facility in Alaska's Dutch Harbor told IntraFish.
