'Unbelievably high' farmed salmon prices soar to levels not seen since 1980s

Norwegian salmon prices are nearing record levels rarely seen since the Scandinavian country's industrialized salmon farming era began in the 1980s.

Market sources reported a price increase for salmon to be delivered next week of close to NOK 10 (€0.99/$1.13)/kg, with the main sizes changing hands for between NOK 85-94 (€8.43-9.32/$9.61-10.62), up from NOK 73-77 (€7.24-7.64/$8.25-8.70) a week ago.

"There is a sharp increase due to even lower harvest volume than this week," one exporter told IntraFish Friday.
