Executives at Chilean salmon producer Caleta Bay are under scrutiny from regulators for failing to report a coho salmon escape that it claims was the result of sabotage.

Chilean fisheries and aquaculture regulator Sernapesca criticized Caleta Bay for failing to report the escape, which occurred at its San Antonio center production site in the Magallanes region.

The company and authorities so far don't know many fish, which averaged 3.9 kilograms in size, escaped from the cage. The bulk of the harvesting had already taken place, although the total is estimated at around 12,500.
