Norway's salmon producers have reason to celebrate the weekend with salmon prices bordering on their highest levels all year.

Prices have risen significantly by about NOK 8-10 (€0.79-0.99/$0.89-1.11) per kilogram from last Friday amid good Christmas demand, one exporter told IntraFish.

That amounts to rises above 20 percent across the weight categories.

"The market is incredibly strong," he said. "It does not look like the omicron virus can break it."
