The Alaska seafood industry is hoping to attract new, younger European consumers as it steps up marketing efforts in the region.

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has singled out the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands for a concerted marketing push built around the health benefits and sustainability of Alaska seafood.

ASMI plans to hold an "Alaska Seafood Week" in these main European markets next month to kick off the New Year.

"We will be learning as we go because we have never done it before," ASMI Director of Global Marketing and Strategy Hannah Lindoff told IntraFish.
