Russia’s farmed salmonid production reached a major milestone in September, with year-to-date production reaching the same level the country imported in 2014, prior to the country closing its borders to seafood from a range of countries, including Norway.
Overall salmon and trout production volumes through September reached 120,000 metric tons, up 29 percent over the first nine months of the year in 2020, according to the country’s fishery agency, Rosrybolovstvo.
Farmed salmon production in September alone more than doubled to 20,340 metric tons through September, compared with this time last year.
