Brazilian seafood processors association ABIPESCA has filed lawsuit against the country's health regulatory agency, Anvisa, for allowing plant-based seafood manufacturers to label their products as healthy.

The lawsuit, filed in recent days, aims to show that plant-based products are a threat to public health.

The suit claims plat-based seafood products are highly processed foods that contain additives and other preservatives, including high salt levels, that can be dangerous to people with certain medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes.

"Our fight is get the products removed immediately as they are threat to the health of consumers," ABIPESCA President Eduardo Lobo told IntraFish.
