The so-called Coastal States -- the European Union, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and the United Kingdom -- agreed Thursday on an overall total quota for Northeast Atlantic mackerel of 794,920 metric tons in 2022.
Representatives concluded catches for 2022 should follow advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) -- which is recommending a TAC that is 7 percent lower than the current year -- but the distribution of that catch still remains unresolved.
