Tilapia breeding and genetics group GenoMar Genetics has signed a joint venture agreement with Colombian poultry genetics distribution company Agroavicola Sanmarino to establish a new company.

The joint venture, GenoMar Genetics Colombia, has already secured a parent-stock farm, and will distribute tilapia genetics in the form of fingerlings and juveniles from a biosecured land-based facility in Colombia’s Huila province.

“We expect to have the first products in the market during the last quarter of next year,” said Martin Cordero, the newly appointed general manager for the joint venture.
