Sales of Alaska salmon and pollock in Brazil are expected to continue growing, according to the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).

This follows a strong Lent period earlier this year, when vendors managed to shift stocks built up following the collapse of foodservice business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The biggest-selling Alaskan product in Brazil this year is wild salmon, helped by sales of chum, keta and pink salmon -- especially after this year's bumper harvest.

Sales have been helped by competitive prices of Alaskan fish in Brazil, despite delays caused by the global shipping container crisis that have plagued the seafood and many other industries for the past year and a half.
