An Alaska judge on Tuesday denied a request from two American Seafoods subsidiaries for a temporary restraining order against the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a decision that leaves dozens of companies facing roughly $400 million (€297 million) in fines, and millions of pounds of pollock stranded across the supply chain.

Alaska District Court Judge Sharon Gleason ruled that attorneys for American Seafoods failed to show that its shipping route -- the so-called Bayside Program -- was in compliance with the US Jones Act.
