The seafood sector has so far largely emerged unscathed from petroleum shortages being experienced in some parts of the United Kingdom, but the crisis serves to underline cost pressures related to the continued shortage of EU truck drivers.

In recent days, there has been panic buying of petroleum at filling stations in British cities, with between 50-90 percent of pumps having run dry in some areas on Monday, according to the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA), which represents independent fuel retailers, accounting for 65 percent of all the 8,380 UK's points of sale to the public.
