'It's brewing up a perfect storm': Fear grows as Norway's cod season approaches without Marine Stewardship Council certification

While Norway's inshore cod and haddock sectors so far do not appear to have been impacted by the loss of their Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification earlier this year, concerns are mounting as the winter season approaches.

The inshore haddock fishery lost its MSC certification on April 26, while the inshore cod fishery lost its eco-label on Aug. 15.

Any fish now caught within 12 nautical miles of Norway's coastline must now be sent to market without the MSC seal, which certifies the fish comes from a sustainable fishery.
