Brazilian meat giant JBS is being tipped to become a mover and shaker in the tilapia producing industry within a decade, according to Francisco Medeiros, president of Brazil's aquaculture producers' trade body Peixe BR.

The company recently announced its first foray into the aquaculture world as it looks to complete the acquisition of Huon Aquaculture in Tasmania. Saying the move is aimed at creating a platform for growth, it is not expected to stop there especially with the Brazilian tilapia and Chilean salmon industries on its doorstep.
