Scotland’s salmon farmers sold more fresh fish to the European Union in the first half of 2021 than ever before, according to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) export figures released Aug. 12.

The figures show that 33,638 metric tons of whole, fresh salmon worth £183.4 million (€216.4 million/$254 million) were exported to the EU in the first half of 2021 -- the highest figure on record. This was an increase of 67 percent and 43 percent, respectively, over the same period of 2020.
