The European Commission (EC) says its ongoing investigation into possible collusion between Norwegian producers of farmed salmon is being compromised by a class-action lawsuit filed in the United States alleging Norwegian salmon giants conspired to fix salmon prices.

The commission says US buyers who are involved in the lawsuit against salmon farmers Mowi, Grieg Seafood, SalMar, and and/or some of their subsidiaries, are requesting information that could negatively impact the ongoing investigation.

In an amicus brief filed Tuesday, the European Union Commission (EC) asked a US District Court in Florida to allow them to participate in a teleconference hearing for the case set to take place via Zoom on Thursday.
