Norway-based salmon giant Mowi will cull hundreds of thousands more fish following a refusal by Canada's fisheries minister to allow the fish to be transferred to another site, bringing the company's overall losses to more than 7.5 million fish from the phaseout of salmon farming in the Discovery Islands.

Despite receiving approval from Canada's Federal Court earlier this year, Mowi has not been able to transfer 525,000 Atlantic salmon from its Shelter Pass farm to its Phillips Arm farm in British Columbia's Discovery Islands.
