Kjell Inge Rokke's Aker Biomarine saw its earnings increase 10 percent in the second quarter despite facing headwinds with poor krill harvesting conditions and low sales of its core product Superba.

The Norwegian krill harvester and processor in the second quarter recorded $19.4 million (€16.5 million) in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), up 10 percent from the same period last year. Revenues during the period reached $74.3 million (€63.1 million).

The group said its results were impacted by poor krill harvesting conditions, with fishing volumes declining to 13,920 metric tons from 16,387 metric tons during the second quarter of last year.
