'Their story needs to be told': Executive behind Grieg's Skuna Bay sees gold in California trout farmer

California-based Mt. Lassen Trout and Steelhead has been producing and selling rainbow trout and steelhead trout for recreational fishing ponds around the United States since 1949. But the California-based producer is now branching out and supplying its fish to the US consumer seafood market.

Katie Harris, the trout producer's president and general manager, told IntraFish it was a meeting with veteran seafood marketer Dave Mergle in 2020 that made the possibility of doing something special in seafood a reality.

"We've stocked fish all over the state of California," said Harris.
