Hamburg, Germany-based salmon processing group Gottfried Friedrichs will close its only domestic processing facility and shift all of its production to Poland as part of a major restructuring to "significantly streamline" operations.

The company's flagship site in Waren an der Muritz, which primarily processes salmon and caviar, will close in March 2022 following the transfer of all production to its Doble, Poland site, a company spokesperson told IntraFish.

The move was a critical part of the company maintaining its long-term competitiveness, the company said.
