Scotland has bold ambitions to grow its aquaculture sector, targeting a growth in production of 50 percent by 2030, but there is plenty of debate about the best way to do this.

At the end of last year, Tavish Scott, CEO of the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO), said Scottish salmon farming has been growing at 2.9 percent per year over the last decade.

"That could probably be described as solid, but when compared to our competitors, it is decidedly modest," he said at the time.
