Norwegian fishermen reeling from the loss of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) stamp for inshore cod and haddock are already taking steps to regain the certificate for their catch.

The Norwegian Fishermen's Association (Norges Fiskarlag), has applied to have the inshore cod and haddock fisheries certified separately after the eco-label loss, which officially took place Monday for haddock. The MSC certification for cod will be rescinded in the coming weeks.

The affected catches -- those taking place within Norway’s inshore 12-mile zone -- make up a massive volume of the overall catch in the country.
