Overall salmonid production – Atlantic salmon, coho and trout -- is expected to rise by 12 percent to 480,000 metric tons, NSEC said.
In Chile, however, unnamed industry sources told the Chilean newspaper La Tercera that Chilean growth is likely to be stronger than expected.
According to the newspaper's sources, described as leading players in the sector, production this year will be at 550,000 metric tons. Although the newspaper does not specify which species it refers to, the figure is likely to take into account all three salmonid species.
