Sales of frozen pollock continue to outpace those of traditional favorite frozen cod at UK retail as consumers adapt to the new normal of having to pay much higher prices for their staple fish products.

Pollock, traditionally considered the cheaper whitefish alternative to species such as cod and haddock, is widely used in breaded and battered products in the United Kingdom, most notably the popular British teatime meal of fish fingers.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Shopping Prices Comparison Tool, the average prices of whitefish products -- including fish fingers -- bought at UK retail increased again in July in line with inflation.
