The latest United States Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend Americans of all ages—particularly kids and pregnant women—are to eat seafood at least twice weekly.

The guidelines specifically recommend eating 8 ounces of seafood per week. That's a goal that 94 percent of children and 80 percent of US adults currently do not meet, according to the National Fisheries Institute.
